From Seattle, Washington to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania many of the newspapers in the country were talking about President Elect Trump singing the praises of Putin. Yesterday, President Obama levied sanctions against Russia. In response Putin was not going to retaliate at this time.
Only in Trump’s America does one sitting President rebuke Russia on one day, and the following day the President Elect praises Russia. Trump’s new America has a drama/comedy reality TV show feel to it. It’s almost like Trump likes making nonsensical headlines for no reason.
One of the more iconic moments in a movie in the 90’s is when Thelma & Louise drive off a cliff, arm & arm. Classic movie, classic ending. Are we headed for the same type of ending ? Donald Trump takes office on January 20th 2017, and the closer we get to that date, the more the realization sets in, what a wild ride this is going to be.
It seems for the moment anyway that conservatives have bought into everything he says, most of it devoid of facts. Yesterday, the FBI & DHS released their report on Russian involvement in our election and subsequently President Obama issued sanctions against them. What follows next is President Elect Trump saying we should just move on, nothing to see here, essentially. Of course that is followed by the sound & fury of conservatives condemning President Obama’s sanctions, against Russia. That’s where we are at boys and girls, late in 2016.
So where does that leave us, we the people, the 66 million majority that voted for the other candidate? Are we headed over the cliff with Donald Trump, as he gets ready to push the laws and constitution in ways never seen in American history ? As good as the movie Thelma & Louise was, I say let’s write a different ending to this story, let Trump take himself over the cliff, but not US or this great nation!
From the heart of the country in Chicago, Illinois to the grey lady in New York City, New York, the headline news was President Obama & the sanctions against Russia.
Once again though, Donald Trump thinks there isn’t much to see & doesn’t want American’s to focus on a major adversary who was found to have interfered with our Presidential election. Worse still, most of supporters feel the same way. Let that wash over you for a bit….
Just like in the movie Grease…one wonders about those summer nights between Trump & Putin….
From Houston, Texas to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and many other papers in between the headline news of the day was Secretary of State strong rebuke to Israel. Kerry called “the settlements a threat to peace”. Kerry also went onto to say “the status quo is leading towards one state & perpetual occupation ”
One thing liberals seem to grasp better than conservatives, is Republicans are in bed with big oil & big business. It’s not a coincidence that the greatest economic booms in the last 25 years occurred during the Bill Clinton years, and again during the Obama years, after near economic collapse during the Bush presidency.
A quick glance at President Elect Trump’s cabinet suggest several things are on the horizon, and not much of it will benefit the “working class” voter that supported the Trump campaign. When you think of billionaires make their money, it’s the not the Robin Hood way, it’s quite the opposite. Billionaire CEO’ are beholden to stock holders & boards, not the people that work for them. Something says that same mentality will carry over into their government service.
One of the more worrisome appointments is Rex Tillerson, former CEO of Exxon. His ties to Russia aside, his ties to big oil to say the least is a frightening specter for “We The People “. If you remember the Bush years, and he was an oil guy from Texas, a convenience that did the american people no good. During the Bush years American’s suffered through inflated gas prices not seen since the 70’s. There are many things that can be predicted about a Trump presidency, but one I would bet the farm on, is this time next year, gas prices will have increased 25-30%.
From the west coast to the east coast, the biggest headline of today was the passing of our American princess, Carrie Fisher. Fisher had a major heart attack on 12/23 & succumbed yesterday at 8:55 PST.
I’m glad that so many conservatives have followed President Elect Donald Trump onto Twitter, Facebook & online. However, since they are here, it begs the question, do their devices have spell check ? I understand that most of the arguments conservatives make are rarely based in actual facts, but do these whoppers & tall tales have to be misspelled, and with such frequency.
I understand that conservatives are a very stubborn bunch, and feel that facts & big words & punctuation is all liberal propaganda. However, if they want us to stop laughing at them when they tell us Trump won the popular vote or Russia wasn’t involved in interfering in the election, then maybe do it spelled properly. Pass it on if you can, let them know most dollar stores sell this thing called a dictionary, help make America spell great again !!
Spanning the country’s newspapers today we find from Houston, Texas to Boston, Massachusetts and many inbetween that newspapers were fascinated with President Obama discussing how we would have beaten Donald Trump in the election in November.
For the record, I’m with the President, there is extremely little doubt he would have easily handled Trump, who didn’t even win the popular vote versus Hillary Clinton.
Spanning the country’s newspapers papers this morning, we find some interesting headlines in a solid Trump state & some other headlines in a blue county.
In Columbus, Ohio the headlines of the day from The Columbus Dispatch is President Elect Trump already shifting away from campaign promises. Columbus, better get used to writing that column.
In Buffalo, a county that went 50-45 for Clinton, one of the headlines of the day discusses Donald Trump’s many business & conflict of interest problems. Great piece of journalism from The Buffalo News. That’s a story with legs & one that isn’t going away anytime soon.
